Part of my abstract currency series, this piece was inspired by the recovery of a letter by Alexander Hamilton to the Marquis de LaFayette that was stolen eight decades ago that had been found. It was stolen from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Archives by clerk Harold E. Perry between 1937 and 1945. Hamilton married Elizabeth Schuyler, the daughter of a prominent Albany family, so he spent quite a bit of time in New York's Capital City
